Probably every man has encountered this concept more than once. It means nothing but a set of rules, which should guide a guy in choosing the right outfit every day, as well as more formal occasions. They can be, for example: interview, job, business meeting or banquet. So what should a man wear, in order not to commit a fashion faux-pas? Please see the article, in which we will reveal the secrets of the male dress code.

Dress code – historia

At the very beginning, let's look at the not-so-short history of the principles of proper dressing. From the beginning of their appearance, the purpose of each outfit was to emphasize the material status of man. It was supposed to show also, where the person is in the social hierarchy, and even what professional class he belongs to. Hence, those placed higher in the hierarchy wore luxurious and expensive fabrics and white shirts, which were meant to mean, that the person has nothing to do with manual labor. EmperorNot only worn clothes, but also their colors emphasized the social hierarchy. It can be observed from ancient times. Then purple clothes, whose dye was very difficult to obtain, they wore e.g.. senators. The yellow color in China was similar, which was worn only by emperors. Sometimes the outfit was a manifesto of rebellion, as was the case with men's costumes designed by George Sand in the 19th century, which gave rise to feminist movements. The 20th century brings some changes to the dress code. At that time, the outfit was supposed to emphasize sexual attractiveness or orientation. Over the centuries, the dress code has also become a collection of many curiosities. One of them is the one from the time of Peter I.. Boyars, that is, the ruling class in Kievan Rus, they were forbidden to wear the beard that is so popular today. Furthermore, merchants who wanted to stand out in such a way had to pay for the opportunity to grow stubble.

A semi-formal evening dress is referred to as black tie. Here, the base is a tuxedo and a black bow tie. What about the shirt? Only white should be worn. The exception are invitations with the annotation "creative black tie", which allow for a shirt of a different color.

As long as everyone knows the term formal evening dress, so few people hear about formal attire for the day. Here we can distinguish two types of clothing, or morning dress (formal) and morning suit (semi-formal). Let's focus on the first one. Morning dress male consists of a male jacket, otherwise known as an English coat. It differs from the classic cut of a men's jacket in elongation, oval back. Such a jacket should be made of a material other than trousers, and also be supplemented with a single- or double-breasted vest. The shirt, in turn, should be of a light color. In this outfit it is also necessary, to put on a top hat and tie.

W morning suit we also choose an English frock coat, however, this time we complement it with trousers and a vest of the same color. Most often, shades of gray are preferred. It is also worth highlighting, that a man's head may have a top hat, and everything should be completed with a tie.

  1. So many different styles and dress codes. However, the most important thing is smart casual. I deal with this subject, because it's probably the most universal style for an elegant guy. And on a date, and for a business meeting. Do not kid yourself, that someone else is still wearing a suit…
